The 120-room extended-stay hotel will be branded with Hilton's Homewood Suites flag and is located at 820 Justison Street in the North Carolina city.
The developers expect construction to finish in September 2019 and anticipate the project will create 100 construction jobs and 30 full-time positions once completed.
PM Hotel Group will manage the hotel upon completion.
Gover John Carney, Mayor Mike Purzycki and City Council president Hanifa Shabazz all attended the ground breaking.
PM Hotel Group and Buccini/Pollin Group also recently finished renovations on a Homewood Suites property in Virginia.
