The company, recently acquired by Choice Hotels International, held a ground breaking ceremony this week at a three-acre site, at 2600 U.S. 41 E., formerly the longtime home of Naples Steel, where a four-storey, 123-unit hotel is being built.
The site will be the second WoodSpring Suites in Collier County. The first is scheduled to open in May near the intersection of Collier Boulevard and Interstate 75 in an industrial park area in southern Golden Gate Estates. It will also have four stories, 123 rooms and a similar layout.
"They are two really good destinations. I just think they are going to do really well with these locations," said Mary Shea, the local general manager of WoodSpring Suites. "They are in demand nowadays with the hospitality industry changing. The brand is known for consistent, cleanliness and affordability. It's really for people who want an extended stay and want to make their own food."
